Meet Mark Whelan, a self-taught photographer and creative who believes a great photo is less about "taking" a picture and more about convincing a fleeting moment to hold still (nicely, of course).
Alright...that's enough of talking about myself in the third person. I grew up in Wicklow Town, Ireland, a dramatic and frequently damp spot where stunning scenery was a daily fixture. The endless rain gave me two options: become a hermit or develop a really deep appreciation for good lighting. I chose the latter. Now based in (much sunnier) San Diego, California.
My early passions for the outdoors, graphic design, fast cars, sports, and art all got tossed into a high-speed blender and emerged as my distinctive photographic style: striking, dynamic, and always with an eye for composition.
